Set in the National Park of Thorny Grove, we delve into the world of dysfunctional woodland life among its inhabitants. Enter with an open mind and reality at the entrance, logic and reason have no place in this wonderful playland of madness.

Tomorrow is the day for FUN!
That's right! Tomorrow, from (6am for you early birds) 9am to 3pm, the Grand Rapids Toy and Comic Expo will be exposed to show it's inner joy for all! I will be there with many other great local talent selling our great books and wares along with many toy collector's. It will be hard for me to keep from spending money.... I love action figures LOL! But come down if you're in town or don't mind driving to Grand Rapids to check us out! Thorny Grove will be at booth 101 and we will have the first issue (first printing) with bumper stickers, Bryar dolls, and maybe a sketch! I will hopefully have the majority of the website up and running by tomorrow and my goal is to have the books and merchandising up for sale by the new year! Stay tuned and thanks for all the fish!

Yeah.... I play Warcraft....
I was inspired by my gaming love to make some sketches of the the Thorny Grove characters as I would see them as World of Warcraft toons. I present this one of Bryar as a warlock with his best friend, Binky, as his Imp. It's just a quick, fun sketch, but I hope it gives you a giggle!

Finalized Bumper Stickers and now I can sell stuff!
Huzzah! Prosthetic Cow Studios is now an official business and can now sell books and stuff on the great internet. I have finished the bumper stickers that I will be sellling at the Grand Rapids Toy and Comic Expo, along with the first book and some handmade Bryar Voo-doo dolls! Take a sneak peek:
And, as I am still trying to figure out HTML scripting to get the actual website going, I hope to have that up in the next few weeks. It is alot harder than I thought. I have been writing out the next storyline and now that I have my business license, I am thinking of selling digital copies thru Amazon and Drive-Thru Comics. Right now, I am getting ready for the Expo on December 3rd, but coloring is going well and soon I hope to be done writing and back to the old drawing board, literally. Hope to see you all at the Expo and tell your friends!

Grand Rapids Toy and Comic Expo
That's right! I will be hosting a booth at the Grand Rapids Toy and Comic Expo on December 3rd! Check out the website for more info at Grand Rapids Toy and Comic Expo. I am very excited because the guy who played Howard the Duck, Felix Silla, will be there for autographs!!!! I am bringing my dvd to get signed! I love Howard the Duck!!!! There are going to be other great local artists with their books as well, like Arrow-eye Studios with Jonathan Sample, a fellow artist I met at my signing at Apparitions. I will be selling the first book, some hand made Bryar dolls (made by Jenn Carnecki), and if budget permits, some election year bumper stickers!
Granted these are just rough draft ideas, but I can only get 2 colors. I am very excited for any opportunity I have to get the book out there and share my madness! Hope to see you there!

Arrow-eye Studios
I had a great time promoting my book at Apparitions yesterday and also met another great artist, Jonathan Sample. We had a great time talking art, pens, cons and even playing a toilet game.... yes, you heard me right. He will be debuting his first book at Apparitions on Saturday, December 10! I will be there and I hope you can too! We like to help and support each other as local artists, especially us weird ones that delve into the outcast world of comics LOL! He even knows who Cthulhu is! I also highly recommend checking out his blog and sketches at his site Arroweye Studios ! I had such a great time and hopefully pulled some new fans into the world of Thorny Grove and keep reading for new pages! I have started writing the new storyline and will hopefully have it up after I finish coloring and posting the first story! Stay tuned and don't forget to check out Johnathan's awesome art at www.arroweyestudios.blogspot.com!
We will see you December 10, Johnathan!

Webcomics and Websites
I think I may start the webcomic on this site until the official site is up, and that may take a little longer than previously predicted. But I am thinking I am going to start putting up 2 pages a week thru here of the original book, since it starts everything, so you can read it and pass it along to others that might enjoy it. When I do start the new storyline, I will also aim for 2 pages a week. The nice thing about the webcomic is that I can do full color! Spread the word! I am hoping to have printed books, t-shirts, stickers, prints, posters and more, but only if I get enough feedback from it. It's a long road, but the road less traveled is supposed to be the more satisfying...... right?

I survived APE con!
Well, it is finally here and gone. My first convention. It was inspiring and humbling. There were hundreds of other comics, writers, artists and crafters there with such an amazing diversity it was almost mind blowing. I tried to walk around a bit, but in the words of many other people I talked to... it was very overwhelming! I was lucky to have such great nieghbors, Eve and Rick Kitagawa, and David Arroyo. And I would also love to give a shout out to Samantha Iturralde, who I had the pleasure of speaking with her and her husband, and gave me a copy of her sketchbook, which was filled with great art! Keep on going guys, you are awesome! And learned alot about how to market myself locally and got alot of great advice from Denny, who also makes a funny as hell mouse comic! I did not sell as many comics as I would have liked, but everyone who read it had really nice feedback about the art and story. It's nice to get that from fellow artists, who notice the little things. And got some really good reviews on the story. So I feel it is a really solid book, but the hard part is just getting people to take a chance and read it. Therefore, I will be working on an Official website for Thorny Grove with an ongoing webcomic. I will be putting the book up first, since that is the starting point and introduces the characters. I will be aiming for 2 pages a week to post and as the site grows, i will be adding the fun stuff like t-shirts, prints, hats, stickers, etc. Thanks to all who bought the book and took a chance on Thorny Grove and hope you spread the word and join me on my quest thru the Grove as it continues its adventures in the digital world!!!!

The countdown to APE has begun!!!!
1 month from today I will be in San Francisco, putting my greatest work out into the world. Thorny Grove has come a long way since the drunken night I decided to pick up my sketchbook and pencil for the first time in many years. It was a melancholy night and I'm sure the alcohol did not help my mood. I just stared at the blank sheet thinking, "Draw something, dammit!". And I did. I let my hand just do it's thing and in a few minutes I had drawn a one-eye browed, cigar chomping rabbit and laughed. Then I thought, he needs friends! Before the sun came up, I had 6 characters and notes all over. I'd like to think it was inspiration, or maybe my subconscious mind venting, but it stuck. And here I am, 8 years later, and after a few tweaks, Thorny Grove is now a reality. Great friends, supportive family, an awesome husband and a nudge from a long lost friend helped make this a reality. Destiny? Fate? We will soon see!!!!

Here is what i am thinking of putting in the Program book... any thoughts? Feedback? I need to get this in today or tomorrow, so anything that doesn't look right, let me know!

Huzzah!!!
It's here! After 2 years of work, the finished print is here and it looks pretty good! After crying for about 10 minutes, I picked one up and opened it... Very surreal. I have to admit that I never would have dreamed this possible. But here I am holding the reality....

Yes. As a matter of fact, I am waiting hopelessly by the door...
Sad, but true. I have always been a very impatient person. This is big for me. I will cry more than I did when I got the Twin Peaks DVDs. And I waited over 10 years to get those! I have gotten the order money from some people and you guys are going to be the first to have your copies! I must admit, it feels weird that people want my autograph... Lol! Well, they are not here today, so maybe tomorrow?

Any day now.... Tomorrow?
I have been very excited and axioms for the arrival of the finished book at my doorstep! I wonder if I'll even be able to sleep tonight? I will admit that I will bawl like a baby when I open that box.... And I have a special bottle of wine for another celebration! (every big step is a step farther than I have ever gone and I always have a reason to celebrate that!!!). Still working on the ad for the program book and looking into some small cut outs for the table and a nice large poster and stands to hang it from for a backdrop. Whatever I can put in our little booth to draw in potential fans!!! Hope to have good news tomorrow!!!!

What a busy day!!!!
Half page ad in APE program book.... Check! On the phone figuring out temporary seller's permit for California.... Check! Getting forms filled out to even be listed in the program book.... Check! All the forms and little things that need to done is hectic! Feels like a full time job already LOL. If this takes off, I might need a secretary. Now, I'm just awaiting word from the printer for when the books will be shipped, then I can start sending out all the pre-orders. I am now going to take a break and clear my head and reboot. I hope to have the ad ready to email to the Program book people this week. I will post it here as soon as I have it finished to share!!!

Thorny Grove joins the great blogosphere
I am getting this set-up thru my phone, but I am hoping to have a more complete realm of Thorny Grove that Facebook can't give me. I will still moderate both and hope you will continue to follow the adventures ahead! Monday shall be the official announcement for this new experience!!!
