I survived APE con!
Well, it is finally here and gone. My first convention. It was inspiring and humbling. There were hundreds of other comics, writers, artists and crafters there with such an amazing diversity it was almost mind blowing. I tried to walk around a bit, but in the words of many other people I talked to... it was very overwhelming! I was lucky to have such great nieghbors, Eve and Rick Kitagawa, and David Arroyo. And I would also love to give a shout out to Samantha Iturralde, who I had the pleasure of speaking with her and her husband, and gave me a copy of her sketchbook, which was filled with great art! Keep on going guys, you are awesome! And learned alot about how to market myself locally and got alot of great advice from Denny, who also makes a funny as hell mouse comic! I did not sell as many comics as I would have liked, but everyone who read it had really nice feedback about the art and story. It's nice to get that from fellow artists, who notice the little things. And got some really good reviews on the story. So I feel it is a really solid book, but the hard part is just getting people to take a chance and read it. Therefore, I will be working on an Official website for Thorny Grove with an ongoing webcomic. I will be putting the book up first, since that is the starting point and introduces the characters. I will be aiming for 2 pages a week to post and as the site grows, i will be adding the fun stuff like t-shirts, prints, hats, stickers, etc. Thanks to all who bought the book and took a chance on Thorny Grove and hope you spread the word and join me on my quest thru the Grove as it continues its adventures in the digital world!!!!
